Post subject: NFL 2010 Season Projections  PostPosted: Jul 10, 2010 - 08:05 PM

I went ahead and applied my model to the NFL to get a glimpse into the 2010 NFL season. Keep in mind, my model applied last season's stats to this season's schedule. This projection does not take into account coaching changes, draft results, player movements, and scheme changes, etc. This is why teams like the Eagles are projected to still do well (despite McNabb being a Redskin).

Some interesting things to note: The Vikings and Bengals are projected to miss the playoffs simply because their schedules are far more difficult this season. Maybe Brett will retire to avoid the pounding he will take this season? Also, the Panthers are projected to make it as a wild card because they have an easier schedule. The Cardinals will give up the division to the 49ers (a team that owned the Cardinals last season and will again) and miss the postseason. The Saints have a slightly tougher schedule and will ultimately find that they can't get past the Cowboys (one of the few teams that beat the Saints last season). The Jet's free agent acquisitions will pay off by giving them a winning record and a division title, but not much more.

I will revisit this projection after week 3 and week 11 (i.e. before and after the bye week stretch).
